Silver Albert chain with horse head fob seal 1886 Birmingham
SOLD - to a gentleman!
This is a lovely single silver watch chain complete with a sterling silver fob seal in the shape of a horse's head. The seal is engraved with the initials “LNB” and is made from a dark green stone. The chain is of graduating curb link construction and is hallmarked on each link, although many of these have been rubbed due to the age of the chain. The T-bar hallmarks are also rubbed, leaving only the passant lion and the “Z” date mark readable. The silver fob seal has clear hallmarks and was manaufactured by Payton, Pepper & Co of Birmingham in 1886. The fob may be earlier or later than the chain as I can't pinpoint which year the date mark refers to. This item is a lovely example of a silver watch chain with novelty fob that is proving very popular with gentlemen today.
