Silver Albert chain 1897 Birmingham
SOLD - to a gentleman!
This is a lovely very heavy single silver watch chain complete with an over-sized jump ring and clip. The chain is of belcher link construction and is extra long so would suit a larger gentleman or anyone whom likes the extra length. This chain does not have each link stamped with the passant lion, so either it's been well worn and these have rubbed, or it was never hallmarked when manufactured. The T-bar carries the maker's mark for Herbert Bushell & son of Birmingham along with the Sterling mark and date mark for 1897. The clip has a hallmark matching the maker of the T-bar, Herbert Bushell & Son, but is of a later style, so I suspect that this was taken back to the manufacturer for a replacement sometime between 1914 and 1926. The over-sized jump ring is later too, but bears a London hallmark, so this is likely a second repair/addition. This item is a lovely example of a heavy silver watch chain that is less common with its belcher link design.
